Early life
Princess Mako was born on 23rd October, 1991 in Tokyo Imperial Palace, Tokyo. He was born at the Imperial Household Agency Hospital. Mark grew up with his younger brother, Prince Hisahito, and younger sister, Princess Kako.
With his primary and secondary education, he attended Gakushin School. In July-August 2010, he joined University College, Dublin (UCD) where he studied English. After that, he joined International Christian University where he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Art and Cultural Heritage.
In September 2012, he joined the University of Edinburgh and studied art history for nine months until May 2013. Later, he went to the University of Leicester where he earned an MA degree in Art Museum and Gallery Studies. She was to marry Komuro on November 2018, however, the marriage was postponed for three years due to a financial dispute between Kei and her mother. As tensions rose, the royal family, as well as the community in general, were unhappy with their marriage.
However, in early 2021, Kei issued a 28-page statement stating that the money his mother had received from her ex-spouse was a gift, and he wished to return the money. In September 2021, news broke that the wedding would be held in a government office as a simple event. The wedding date was announced three days after Princess Mako’s 30th birthday.
On October 26, 2021, Princess Mako officially married Kei Komuro in the local ward office, and as a result, she lost her royal position and became an ordinary person as per the Imperial Household Act. She was about to receive $ 1.3 million after leaving the Imperial family, however, she gave up the money, becoming the first female member of the royal family to sacrifice money and a formal wedding ceremony.
