Glenn Youngkin was born on December 9th, 1966 in Richmond, Virginia, United States. He was born to his parents, Ellis and Carroll Wayne Youngkin. His father, Ellis, played basketball at Duke University, and worked in accounting and finance. He and his family moved to Virginia Beach when he was a child.

As for his education, he attended Norfolk Academy where he graduated in 1985. He was really good at basketball while playing for the high school team. Glenn has won numerous high school basketball awards.

Later, he received a basketball scholarship from Rice University where he played four seasons for NCAA Division I with the University basketball team, Rice Owls’ men’s basketball. He graduated in 1990 and attended Harvard Business School where he graduated with an MBA in 1994.

In the national election, Glenn faced Democratic Alliance nominee Terry McAuliffe. Youngkin and McAuliffe held their first debate on 16 September 2021, hosted by the Appalachian School of Law. Glenn defeated McAuliffe in Virginia’s election on Wednesday, November 3, 2021.

Although a former Democratic Alliance candidate, McAuliffe campaigning with Biden and Obama, failed to secure a victory for Youngkin. According to unofficial results from the Virginia Electoral Commission on November 1, 2021, Glenn won by 51 votes, almost more than 91,000 votes than McAuliffe.
